I'm such a slacker...

I have been slacking on my blog here lately.  Yet, I've been extremely busy with life, lol.

Here is a short~but~sweet update on me (like anyone truly cares)

1 ~  I had a job interview last week.  I think it went good.  It was a group interview (first time for me, lol) so I was a little nervous but... We shall see!  Wish me luck all!  They aren't hiring right yet but they will be within the next few months.

2 ~  I've been quilting, quilting and quilting, lol.  I have another one done (pic coming soon) and another one in progress :)  Well, I guess I shouldn't say they are done.  Only the fronts are.  I still need to do the batting and the backing.

3 ~  I've been busy with housework (like always) and now starting to get busy with the yard work... Joy.  The weather was nice a while back but now it's gone to crap again.  Yard work, for now, can wait.  We did have quite the snow storm last week.  It actually broke one of our trees in the backyard... Good thing it didn't land on the house or the neighbors fence, lol!
The landlord will be coming over sometime to see about taking the whole tree down.  It would be wise considering it looks to be splitting into three sections... with the first section down.  The other two sections WILL hit the house and the neighbors fence.

4 ~  Still debating with Kris about the dogs... We talk about it, then we forget about it.  Progress is little.  So, looks like we are going to keep them and do our best to feed them and ourselves, lol.  Dogs come first to me though.  I would rather go hungry then to feed them.  They're like my kids :)

So, that's my update  :)  I've pretty much been slacking on my blog but I've been pretty busy with life.  I hope you all are doing great!

Coming up

My man is leaving for the weekend with a buddy.  They are going to his buddy's Dad's house.  I'm sure they are going to be doing manly things, lol.  I will stay home and do girly things :)

I plan on cranking up some music, dancing/singing around the house and being a complete dork!  It's been forever since I've done that and I must admit... I'm looking forward to it!

Benatar,  Lauper, Swift, Spears and Gaga... The weekend is ours!

Aside from being a dork, I would like to try to re-vamp my blog a little (if I can get smart enough to figure things out) and possibly do some deep cleaning.  Ok... I WILL do some deep cleaning since the messy love-of-my-life will be out of the way enjoying his manly weekend :)

I will miss Kris though.  Yeah, it's only going to be 3 days but we live together and do everything together.  But, I guess it would be good for us :)  I just know he's going to miss me like crazy (eye-roll)!

Well, I must go finish laundry and pack his bag... Have a great day all!

Little bit of everything...

I must admit... My boyfriend is awesome!  Yesterday, he brought home a blended coffee from my favorite corner lot coffee hut... He ordered a 20 oz and the owner made too much (she always does that) so he got a 32 oz instead for the 20 oz price.  Then, he gave that big bad boy to me!  I was feeling like Hammy on Over the Hedge!!  My boyfriend hates coffee so for him to stop and get me one 'just because' is awfully sweet :)  I knew there was a reason why I love him so much!

On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, I went to my mother's house and helped her get the place ready for Christmas and company.  Lots of coffee and giggling later, we got most of it done (E-Bay stuff organized too).  I'll go help her out again next week and get it super done :)

Kris bought a Prime Rib for Christmas dinner for us and the family.  I'm so excited about cooking it up and pigging out.  The way he cooks it is amazing!  It's so tender and scrumpdiddlyumptios!  I'm drooling now as I type this!

I've decided that my broke ass is making gifts this year for Christmas so, I will try to post pictures of the things I make (the ones that turn out looking good).  I love making things but I'm no Martha Stewart!  I sure like to try though!

Anywho, I have a lot to get done today (laundry and cleaning) so I better get my butt in gear!  Have a great day all!  :)

Triple C's

Today is going to be pretty eventful.  Or so I hope it is.  I have my list of Triple C's to get done today... And then some.

You ever feel like you are stressed out EVERY SINGLE DAY?  Well, I do (most of the time) but today, I'm going to try to find my happy place and send the stress away.  That's my goal!  "Shoo Stress, shoo!  Be gone with your bad self!"  Holidays always stress me out but there is one thing I do for Christmas that eases the stress... Send out Christmas Cards :)

To Do List:

1.  Christmas Cards ~ I have most of them ready to send.  Now, it's just a matter of deciding who to send a picture to and then seal 'em up, stamp 'em and send 'em out.  I don't know why but it's fun and relaxing for me to send them.  I find it's more personal then sending out mass e-cards for the holidays :)  And with my friends and family and Kris's friends and family, I have a LOT going out this year!

2.  Cleaning ~ That's almost an every day thing for me to do but that's the price I pay for loving a clean house.  I hate dirt and clutter.  Clutter is a fear of mine, lol.  I want to be able to see my kitchen counter tops and not have them cluttered with toasters or crock pots or anything.  When it comes to dirt, nobody can hide from it.  Where I live, it's always dusty.  I can dust every morning and still collect dust by evening.  It's kinda sad and creates a lot of stress for me, lol.

3.  Cooking ~ I need to do my timing just right for dinner to be ready tonight.  I'm going to cook corned beef, cabbage and carrots (oh look, Triple C's again, lol) in a crock pot and try to have it ready when Kris gets off work.  I have always been off on my timing.  Even when my directions give me a time.  I can't figure that one out, lol.

Two stressful things out of three chores isn't bad I guess.  There is a great chance I'll beat the stress and accomplish my goal(s) today :)  I hope everyone else has a great day and stays stress-free!

Pink Tree

I decorated the house last Thursday for Christmas.  A little early for me but I felt that holiday spirit thing itching at my back and decided to 'itch' it.

Usually, Kris will flip when I decorate (even a week before the holidays) but this year, he walked into the house, looked everything over, shook his head, smiled and said, "Holy crap woman".  So on that note, I plugged in my fake pink tree!  I wish it was real and one of these years I WILL convince Kris to let me get one.  But until he does, Pink Tree it is, lol.

Today was a busy day for me.  I watched Desperate Housewives (last nights episode), cleaned the kitchen and living room, did laundry all day (and still working on it), shoveled snow again and re-arranged our bedroom so we can use the heater in there and to get our bed away from the window... It gets drafty.

I actually had everything done (except laundry) by 12:34 pm.  I was quite happy with myself.  All it took was 2 pots of coffee, lol.

I hope you all are enjoying your weather (whatever it may be doing) and/or staying warm... Snow, sun, rain, wind, hot, cold... Mother Nature is a bit bipolar this year!

Colorado and the Comforts of Home

I had a blast in Colorado!  The week went by super fast and I wasn't ready to come home yet, lol.  Kris and I went to a wedding (his friends) in Colorado and Kris was the best man.  It was my first time meeting the two newly weds and I was nervous but, they are awesome people and made me feel completely comfortable.

Beautiful Couple ~ Inside and Out!
(Paul and Nicole ~ Nov. 27th, 2010)

I was really scared to meet them at first, lol.  I was so afraid they wouldn't like me or approve of me but it seems they both approve.  I guess you could say I was a success!  Shy at first but they seemed to like me :)  Like I've said before, I'm not a people person but I had fun!  I met a lot of awesome people (friends/family of theirs) and hope to keep in touch and hang out with them again.

Kris seemed to be happy that I went with him.  (I almost didn't go)  It was funny... He was in the wedding and I was not.  At one point, he asked me how many times I was hit on by the guys there!  *giggles* I told him "None hit on me" lol.

As you can see, I'm not a girly-girl.  I hate dressing up and doing my hair.  Honestly, I wouldn't even know what to do with my hair besides curl it.  But, I would have tried more for this day if I had more time.  Time was a little hectic... But, I still felt pretty so it's all good :)  And now, Kris and I have a picture of us both kinda dressed up for his mother, lol.

While we were there in Denver, Kris was determined to take me to the Casa Bonita Restaurant (Beautiful House or House of Beauty... something like that).  That place is fricken nuts!  It looks so tiny on the outside (even though it sticks out like a sore peter) but it's huge on the inside with many different levels and about 500+ tables with different themes to them.  Plus, entertainment and caves for people to wander through, lol. That place was 2nd highlight of our trip... Wedding was 1st!

All in all, I had a blast and would love to go back again!  But, I was so happy to be home and sleeping in my own bed :)  You never realize the things you love till you don't have them for a while.  I love my bed, I love my pillow, I love my house, I love walking around in my panties... It's the simple things in life that bring such happiness!

Well all, I cleaned my house today and decorated for Christmas.  Now, I'm ready to tackle the laundry that is taunting me.  Have a great day and I hope everyone had a great Turkey Day!

Yesterday...

I had a great day yesterday for my birthday/turkey day.  Kris and I went to my mothers house for dinner and games with the family.

The turkey was yummy and the stuffing and yams were the best!  Mmm... I love me some yams... *drools*... Instead of having pie, we had cake.  A yummy vanilla cake with way too many candles, lol.  My mom always amazes me with big dinners like that... Spend alllll daaaay loooong cooking just for people to sit and scarf (literally) food for 15-20 minutes.  Me?  I don't have the patience to slave away on a great, big dinner just to enjoy for a short time.  I would much rather slave on T.V. Dinners in the oven, lol.  Gotta give props to my mom!  :)

Games were fun... We played Pinochle and I lost :)  (I always seem to anymore)  After the game, there was a bit of drama between two people about health care issues... But, other then the drama, I had an awesome birthday!  I do wish my father would have been able to make it.  Hopefully he will feel better soon and we can meet up sometime...

My mother gave me candles... Black-cherry!  My favorite!  My boyfriend bought me an amazing diner at Diego's about a month ago.  My uncle and his girlfriend got me some lottery scratch-its and I won $20.00 on those and my mothers landlord (and friend for years) gave me some cash.  I keep telling people to not get me anything but they never listen.  I'm too old to be receiving gifts for a b-day.  Although, I did buy myself a cute, warm winter coat this morning!  :)  I love it!

Well, time to get my butt in gear and finish cleaning house and doing laundry so I can relax this evening.  Desperate Housewives is on tonight so I'm pretty excited about that :)  Later all!

What am I?

I am a woman, a housekeeper, an accountant, a dog groomer, a laundry service, an organizer, a landscaper, a cook, a dish washer, a coffee house, a phone book, a mechanic's assistant, a seasonal warehouse worker, a shoe finder, a back scratcher, a masseuse, a craigslist seller all rolled into one being.  I am Super-Shannon!  Just a typical day in the life of most women, lol.  Seriously though, women do it all!  Sorry guys... (Some of you do a lot too!)

Coffee and Cleaning...

Monday - Thursday is the same routine for me.  I get up at 5 am.  and press start on my coffee pot (I always get my coffee pot ready to go the night before).  I then let the dogs outside to do their business while I have a cancer stick (bad, I know).  Afterwards, the dogs and I go back inside and I get me a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee and add a small spoon-full of sugar and 2 ice cubes (don't want to burn my tongue).  After my first sip of coffee, I then get my mans lunch ready (he would be completely lost without me).  On cold mornings, I will start his truck (he loves me more for that, lol).  He then leaves for work around 5:45 am. and I do my usual FaceBook apps.  Mafia Wars, FarmVille and FrontierVille.  Damn things!  I should just get rid of them.  I hate the fact that I'm worried about my crops going to waste!  Pathetic I tell ya... After FB, I start my normal day of cleaning :)

I love the fact that I keep our house clean.  It's a great feeling to see my efforts shine :)  Years ago, I worked as a Maid and I HATED to come home and do chores for mom.  Who wanted to clean all day at work and then clean more at home?  I know I sure didn't!  But now that I'm not a maid and I have a house of my own (well, with my boyfriend) I love my house to be spotless.  So much that I always double mop my hardwood floors, lol... Once with the Swiffer wet jet mop and once with my Bona hardwood mop.  Since double mopping, I've noticed that a Swiffer is not all that great.  It seems to just smear the dirt around, lol.  If I don't get a better first mop then I'll start doing a triple mop!

Remember as a kid how you would always get excited to get the new coolest toy?  Well, now that I'm grown up, I get excited about new cleaning products, lol.  Now, that right there  is sad :)

A few months ago, we had a knock on the door and it was a Kirby salesman.  He asked if he could vacuum our floors to show us a demonstration.  We have hardwood floors so we told him he could vacuum our couches.  So, he did.  I'm super impressed with the Kirby (but not the price) and I would like one of them... or a Rainbow.  They both do wonders.  We got the salesman to clean our couches, the carpet in our room and he even vacuumed our bed.  It was nice to have a man clean like that for a change, lol.  I told my boyfriend to take notes :)  He didn't.

Back to the coffee topic.  I love, love, love coffee!  Some days, I'll drink two whole pots... Some would say I'm a coffee hog.  It doesn't really give me energy, it just keeps my eyes open, lol.  I like those coffee huts on corners in town or in parking lots.  They are my favorite places to get coffee.  I'm not a big fan of Dutch Brothers or Starbucks.  My all-time favorite coffee hut is the Full Throttle Java.  The girls there are awesome and very friendly.  They make the best blended full throttle (I always get that one and no it's not a full throttle energy drink blended up).  It's the best coffee drink so far for me.  It comes with 5 shots of espresso in a 24 oz. but I always get an extra shot just for good measure, lol.

Well all... I think I've blogged enough for now.  I'm not getting my house spotless by sitting on my tush :)  Have a great day!

Halloween and Mr. Sticky... Oh my!

I woke up this morning with every intention of cleaning the house and guess what?  I actually got it done!  Last week, I bought myself a Mr. Sticky and I must say... I LOVE HIM!  He is awesome for dusting and picking up dog hair off the furniture and clothes.  I would recommend Mr. Sticky to anyone who has pets and has to deal with pet hair :)  Not trying to sell it to anyone for I don't get a profit but just wanted to let people know how cool he is :)  Any-who, I used my Mr. Sticky today and cleaned the house.  The only thing I didn't do was mop my floors.  Kinda pointless when the dogs track in dirt and mud with wet seasons... I am also doing laundry...  I kinda feel like a cleaning fairy today, lol.

Now on to Halloween.  Who loves halloween?  I know I do!!  I wanted to possibly dress up as Lady Gaga or a psycho witch and enter myself into a costume contest but I doubt it will happen.  My man doesn't like to get dressed up on Halloween or to go to bars.  But, that's a good thing 'cause we save money by staying home :)  Although, going out every now and then would be nice too :)  One of these years I'll convince him to get into the Spooky Spirit!  (aside from jumping out from behind doors to scare the living crap out of me) :)

I recently read something about laws on trick-or-treating age?  How teens are too old?  What are your takes on this?  I honestly can't remember the last time I went trick-or-treating but I do know it was YEARS ago.  I feel that any kid, regardless of age, should be able to partake in the activity as long as they are wearing a costume.  Why take their childhood away?  Once they are out of high school then I feel they are too old to trick-or-treat because that's the first major step into adult hood.  But as long as they are still in school then why not?  I hate how people feel the need to change things all the time and to make unnecessary laws for stupid things like this.

Feel free to leave comments :)  I promise I won't bite your head off if your opinion is different from mine. *wink*  Have a fantabulous day everyone!
